HTC, the Taiwanese electronics company, has become the latest to venture into the metaverse with its new integrated phone – the ‘Desire 22 Pro’. Complete with an in-built digital asset wallet and virtual reality integrated headset, HTC is committing heavily to Web3.
Of course, there have been several companies that have already brought their own phones into the blockchain, to some extent. Earlier models include Solana’s ‘Saga’ and Huawei’s significant investment into blockchain R&D.
Solana is a good contemporary to compare Desire 22 Pro. According to Forkast, Solana’s Saga comes at an initial price tag of $1,000, making it closer to the newer model iPhones or smartphones, bringing with it some high expectations.
In contrast, HTC’s 6.6-inch phone is currently being priced at $403 / £399, with wide availability, being released in Taiwan, Japan and across Europe. As for technicals, the phone offers 8GB RAMM and 128GB in storage.
