On Oct. 31st, Matrix was invited to a meetup hosted by Green Mining in Shanghai, where Professor Steve Deng and CEO Owen Tao shared the latest happenings of Matrix and talked about their vision of a distributed cloud platform.

They took the opportunity to introduce the Apocalypse, a mining machine equipped with the AI technology developed by Matrix Space. This marks yet another step towards building our AI-powered ecosystem.

Distributed Cloud Platform

Conventional centralized cloud platforms run the risks of privacy invasion and downtime, whereas a distributed platform implementing blockchain technology is the solution to both problems.

Matrix is building an innovative cloud platform integrating both blockchain and AI technology. This platform will utilise the idling computing power in Matrix AI Network. It is capable of preventing data loss and securing transactions of data, computing power and AI models among users.

Idling Computing Power

With the latest update patch, Matrix AI Network has already done away with the waste of computing power due to excessive mining. Our next step is to tune the system’s idling power for AI computing use.

As Matrix mainnet is not powerful enough to handle this task alone, we are announcing a partnership with Green Mining, who has developed the Apocalypse with our support and will join hands with Matrix to build a large-scale decentralised platform for distributing computing power.

The Apocalypse

By partnering up with Green Mining, Matrix has equipped the Apocalypse with our own AI technology. Our AI mining algorithm will enable the machine to stay power efficient and always adopt the optimal mining solution, while maintaining a good balance between mining and computing for AI.

1. Proof of work is non-global, carried out only by 32 nodes in each cycle.

2. The AI mining algorithm powers a number of AI projects of real-world use.

3. All miners are connected in one distributed cloud AI computing platform.

4. Unelected nodes will contribute computing power to individuals/companies who need it, thereby gaining profits in addition to mining rewards.

Making Real-world Use of the Computing Power

The Apocalypse supports data mining, AI training, 3D rendering, meteorologic analysis, biological computing and clinical diagnosis. Once connected to the platform, it will start lending out extra computing power and gaining profits for doing so.

Though new to the Matrix ecosystem, the Apocalypse will play an essential role in laying the foundation for our new computing power distribution platform. By providing more computing power for the society, we are enabling people to train more practical AI models, and thereby, slowly but surely, we will bridge the gap between Week AI and Artificial General Intelligence.
