Pilot Program: Introducing Badges
Get Recognized for Your Contribution to Project Genesis
Insider Access
While Project Genesis has been in development for a little over a year and a half, it is still very early days in the product’s development lifecycle.
This means you have a great opportunity to watch the building of a game from the ground up. Better yet, as an active community member, you have the ability to influence the direction that the Project Genesis team takes for our flagship title.
Within every amazing community, there are members who regularly go above and beyond the call of duty. Our community is no different. We have some exceptional contributors who are helping Project Genesis become the best game possible.
In an effort to recognize exceptional and active participants, we have begun to implement our brand new Project Genesis Pilot Program. This program consists of allocating badges to four categories of contributors and starts with the Andromeda playtest build scheduled for release on August 2nd, 2019.
Designations
We encourage everyone to play to their strengths and interests when lending a hand. At this stage of development, we have four different categories of pilot that we’re looking to recruit.
Test Pilots
Test Pilots are those community members who enjoy breaking things, are obsessed with quality, and/or are meticulous in their approach to reproducing and sleuthing bugs. They will often get the earliest access to builds to verify the game or run new features through testing to ensure a stable enough build state for wider release.
Ace Pilots
The Ace Pilots designation is for our competitive community members. They often have experience as competitive players in hero shooters or space combat games, and may even find themselves on ranked lists in their favorite game genres. Ace Pilots help us refine playbalance, find and quash exploits, and help us create the most visceral experience that is “easy to play and hard to master”.
Pioneers
Pioneers are the content creators in the Pilot Program: artists, partners, streamers and broadcasters. They are the kind of early adopters who blaze trails in new territory for others. They often examine and demonstrate what is worth experiencing in Project Genesis to their audience in fun and creative ways.
Ambassadors
And finally there are our Ambassadors. Ambassadors typically fulfill the role of moderators and hosts for new community members. They excel at helping others have a great experience with Project Genesis and play emcee within our newly formed community.
Showing off Your Badge
Once you become accepted as one of the elite members of the Pilot Program, what happens next? You get designated a badge, of course! For now, you and everyone else can see your badge displayed in two locations: the Project Genesis Leaderboards and inside of the game itself.
Leaderboards
The team has recently implemented leaderboards to track player kills and game wins that update in almost real-time. The can be found on the Project Genesis website here. More categories will follow in the near future, so check back regularly to see how you, your friends, or your opponents are lining up. Once you become a Pilot your new badge designation will be displayed prominently next to your name for all to behold!
In-Game Ship Insignia
The second way you and others can view your badge is inside of the Project Genesis game. Mario Duarte has designed the badges, and Mark Nicolino and Christian Aguila have developed the branding system that places your badge on the ship you select to inhabit.
Earn Your Status & Claim Your Badge
If you’d like to contribute to influencing the direction Project Genesis from it’s earliest days, participating in the Pilot Program may just be the thing for you. You can earn badges in your favorite areas of contribution, get early insiders builds, and climb the ranks as your impact and influence in the community grows. And here’s the good news — none of these badges are mutually exclusive. In other words, if you’re a power contributor, you can earn more than one (or all) of the badges available. Happy hunting!
