With Less than two weeks remaining until the Prospectоrs launch in the EOS minenet, we’ve decided that it’s the right time to talk about our efforts to ensure the project's security, and also about the steps which will help us to resist multi accounts and bots issues.
The main goal is to ensure the security of the smart-contract
Security was one of our main priorities from the start of developing. We devoted almost one-third of the total development time to write code tests, which cover all parts of the project’s smart contract. Those tests take three times more code pages than actual projects code, and they let us know immediately if any problem within the smart-contract appears.
Throughout the entire development phase, we also cooperated with a team, who rigorously tested the project and gave us operative bug reports.
One of the main benefits of holding the testing on the jungle network was our ability to draw developers from the community to help discover any vulnerabilities. We’ve got great feedback, and right now we are continuing to work with a few gifted hackers, who spend their days looking for bugs in the project.
Entering with a private key
During the testing in the Jungle, we tried out a feature that allows a player to enter the game with a private key. In an effort to make it easier for ordinary users to enter the game after launch, we’ve decided to continue this feature on the mainnet.
This option is primarily for those players who have not installed or are not familiar with Scatter. We want to assure you that it is a safe option, as we never save your private key anywhere. It stays just on the login page, and when you are redirected from that page into the game, it just disappears. If you don’t want to enter with a private key, then enter with the Scatter. It’s up to you.
Firewall against bots and multi accounts
Another concern from our community was the potential of an invasion from bots and multi accounts.
We want to highlight that fighting with multi accounts was not among our goals during the testing in the Jungle. Still, it caused panic amid our users just after the testing launch.
We are sure that this will not be a big problem after the Prospectors launch. First of all, we’ll change the way to enter the game. So it’ll be much harder to do with different accounts.
Secondly, our programmers developed a smart system for tracking multi-account users, so we will punish them by putting them in jail with property confiscation.
Furthermore, to fight the bots, we are going to use CAPTCHA to some actions.
Also, we are considering using a private recommendations system where the user will be able to enter the game just after the recommendation of one of the current players. So if this person turns up a cheater, the player, who has invited him/her will be punished too.
The last stage of the security check will be after the Prospectors launch to the mainnet. We are going to start a bounty program to engage hackers from around the world to try to find any critical vulnerabilities for a bounty.
So rest assured, we will do everything to make your life in the Prospectors world safer than in the real one.
Don’t miss this opportunity to be among the first to secure assets, and guarantee a successful start and future!
